We tested the 16m Project V1-L XLR cable and compared it with a 16m cable from another brand, assembled with the same Furutech connectors as the Project V1 cable. Therefore, the difference in sound is only in the cable itself, not in the connectors.
The sound of the Project1 is more refined, much more detailed, clearer and cleaner, with more controlled bass.
When a system reaches a certain level, interconnects stop being “tone controls” and become noise-management and coherence tools. The best flagship interconnect doesn’t force a particular brightness or warmth; it lowers interference and contact losses so the component’s real character emerges more clearly. That is the core promise behind Furutech Project V1-L: a cable built to remove subtle haze and let music develop from a deeper silence.
Why a flagship interconnect matters
Modern homes are saturated with EMI/RFI: routers, switch-mode power supplies, displays, chargers, and network gear. Even balanced systems are not immune to this noise; and unbalanced analog runs can be particularly sensitive. A true reference cable attacks the problem at multiple levels:
-
Conductor integrity (stable signal transfer)
-
Dielectric control (reduced energy storage / smear)
-
Shielding strategy (less radiated noise intrusion)
-
Mechanical resonance management (reduced micro-modulation)
-
Connector stability (consistent contact pressure; lower micro-arcing)
Project V1-L is positioned as Furutech’s answer to these conditions—built not to “sound different,” but to sound cleaner, more structured, and more true.
“Pure Transmission” design principles
Furutech’s signature approach is to treat every material and mechanical interface as part of the signal path. On a flagship interconnect, this typically means:
-
High-purity conductors selected for consistent performance
-
Multi-layer insulation designed for stability and low coloration
-
Robust shielding that does not choke dynamics
-
Connectors engineered for maximum contact integrity
-
Damping architecture that controls resonance in the connector barrels and cable body
The goal is a more coherent presentation: tighter image edges, deeper layering, and less listening fatigue.
What you may hear in a well-matched system
Because system interactions vary, results depend on component output stages, input impedance, grounding, and overall noise environment. But flagship interconnects are typically chosen for improvements like:
-
Lower perceived noise floor (blacker background, less grain)
-
More stable center image and stronger spatial focus
-
Cleaner micro-dynamics (small shifts in intensity feel more real)
-
Better separation of complex mixes without harshness
-
More natural decay (reverb tails, ambience cues) and “air” that doesn’t turn into glare
If your system already has strong tone and dynamics but feels slightly “flat,” “busy,” or “hazy,” a reference interconnect is often one of the fastest ways to reveal more depth and structure without changing your speakers or room.
Where Project V1-L fits best
Project V1-L is ideal for critical analog links such as:
-
DAC → preamp / integrated amplifier
-
Streamer → DAC (analog output stage)
-
Phono stage → preamp
-
CD/SACD player → preamp
-
Any line-level analog path where you want maximum clarity and control
It’s also especially relevant in systems where you have strong power conditioning and good grounding, because those systems tend to reveal even smaller improvements in cable-borne noise and contact stability.
Setup tips
-
Use the shortest practical length to reduce exposure to noise pickup.
-
Keep analog interconnects separated from AC power cords where possible.
-
Ensure connectors are fully seated; contact stability matters.
-
If comparing, match volume carefully and keep the rest of the chain unchanged.

D.U.C.C. (Dia Ultra Crystallized Copper)
The α (Alpha) OCC – DUCC is meticulously crafted using a blend of DUCC Ultra Crystallized High Purity Copper and Furutech’s renowned Pure Transmission α (Alpha)-OCC. Furutech sources the DUCC Ultra Crystallized High Purity Copper from Mitsubishi Materials Industries, ensuring strict quality control and a regulated supply for optimal signal transmission.
This exceptional conductor material, DUCC Ultra Crystallized High Purity Copper, is recognized as one of the finest by Furutech engineers. Mitsubishi employs cutting-edge technology to process this extremely pure, oxygen-free copper, aligning the crystals with precision and minimizing crystal-grain boundaries. The result is an extraordinarily efficient conductor that significantly enhances signal transmission.
Furutech combines DUCC with their world-famous Pure Transmission α-OCC, creating an optimized dual conductor configuration. This configuration undergoes Furutech’s Alpha Super Cryogenic and Demagnetizing process, further elevating purity and conductivity to an advanced level. The meticulous treatment of this dual conductor setup ensures a substantial enhancement in performance and signal integrity.
